Weekend of 12-28-12

I guess on some level we all knew this day would come. My tenure at TGIF Jams is coming to a close.

It was a really good ride. I heard a lot of cool music and met hundreds of great artists who emailed me their tracks. I like to think I made some people’s Fridays better on some level and spread some of that good time/high fiving energy back into the world. For over 3 years, it was great. Every Friday. Boom.

Alas, it is time for me to focus on new projects. For those of you who don’t know, I now live in San Francisco, just fired all my clients, and build iPhone games. It’s awesome and I love it. Kind of the personification of everything this blog is about, at least I like to think so.

I’ll start a new blog at some point that’s more just about general ideas if you’re interested. In the meantime, I’m going to try to get this site into the hands of someone who is pumped about it. Don’t worry – your email addresses are not going anywhere.

In closing, I just want to say thanks. It was a lot of fun and it was only possible because of the positive feedback I would get. You’re the reason I never missed a week.

Live the dream and kick some ass this weekend and the next. Do it in your own way, whether that be skiing powder, baking cookies, loving someone, or reading a book. Be yourself and be positive. It really makes all the difference.

Although I’m only 29 years old, I can safely say that the #1 greatest lesson I ever adopted is that you only get one shot. Today’s never going to happen again. This is it. Right now. This is happening. Choose to fucking crush it.

Until next time,

CT

Weekend of 12-21-12

This is awesome. Love/hate censorship. Looking forward to being back on the East coast and hearing every talk about cold weather and no sunlight. I hope there’s still jazz a Local! womp womp.
Elton John vs. Pnau – Black Icy Stare – My buddy sent me this album and it kills. This track especially made me want to revisit some of Elton’s epic tracks. A great way to get the New Years party bumping.
Kill Paris – I Love You Lana Del Ray (Where I Left My Heart) – Very happy to see this sort of track coming out. It’s the new wave of romantic music. Eat that Sinatra. In other news, this would CRUSH in a club.
Crystal Fighters – At Home – This is a super cool track. Kind of that feel good nostalgia for the present. I guess that’s what they call inner peace. I love it. Makes me happy. Fucking right on.
MNDR – Feed My Diamonds (RAC Remix) – The RAC always delivers beatastic jams. A smooth infusion of grace and Jamioqui. Sell it by the gram?
Peer Kusiv – Let Her Go – This is very similar to Xavier Rudd with a dash of electronic. Real nice for all you non-Alphas out there.

Weekend of 12-14-12

I saw this video a while back and was floored. Skrillex and The Doors, two of my all time favorites, teaming up to drop the hammer on a monster jam. This is the future. Electronic, mobile, revolutionary. If you hang out with anyone under the age of 15 right now, you’ll believe me.

For an awesome look at the making of this video, watch this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pT40_00AGQU

Broke For Free – Budding – Starting things off super smooth with this nice jam. Perfect for one of those hipster videos about Fall with lots of closeups that start out of focus….then go into focus. Artistic.
Coldplay – Fix You (Aylen Remix) – This is an awesome remix of the Coldplay track. The best part is that he doesn’t get in the way of the original song, just lets it flow. Nice.
St. Etienne – Only Love Can Break Your Heart – French. Dramatic. Danceable. Ouí.
Bruno Mars – Locked Out Of Heaven (Major Lazer Remix) – ML just murders reggae remixes, turning an ordinarily whiny Bruno Mars song into something you can play at a beach party.
Big Gigantic X GRiZ – POWER – Big fat juicy dubstep. This might be the best name ever for a song like this. TURN IT UP.

Weekend of 12-07-12

Back on the East coast for a few days and wanted to give a shout out to the Californians out there. Funny – this video isn’t that far off. Happy Thanksgiving. #1 thing I’m thankful for this year? Songza.
Elliphant – Down On Life – This is a banger. Beat dropping like woah with lyrics that are dark and weird. Awesome.
St. Lucia – All Eyes On You (Pacific Air Remix) – I love these guys. Makes me remember the days of sipping cocktails in the Caribbean without a care in the world. Ahhh.
Wiz Khalifa – Paperbond – Everything this guy touches turns to gold. His production is amazing. This jam sounds like it could fill a stadium.
The Game – Jesus Piece Feat. Kanye West And Common – The Game first came out when Slim Shady made his mark. Now they’re back with this boss track.
Passion Pit – Carried Away Viceroy Remix – Per usual, Viceroy releases a new remix and I’m posting it. So feel good and so much fire. Best.

Weekend of 11-30-12

Thought I would mix it up this week. This is a smooth and silky hour track for you to just bump while you’re working on this Friday. Poolside mixes slay. Check the 20 min mark for one of my all time favorite tracks.

Weekend of 11-23-12

Back on the East coast for a few days and wanted to give a shout out to the Californians out there. Funny – this video isn’t that far off. Happy Thanksgiving. #1 thing I’m thankful for this year? Songza.
Daft Punk – Emphazed – Apparently this is the leaked version of the latest Daft Punk. It’s incredible. Amazing electronic kick off to kicking it all weekend.
Nirvana – Polly (Bruno Be Remix) – Yes, sick remix of one of my favorite Nirvana songs. Polly wants a cracker.
HAIM – Don’t Save Me – (Cyril Hahn Remix) – Kind of a Sky Ferreria jam, but with more synth and drive. An awesome workout song.
Wild Club – Thunder Clatter – Like an ambient Cut Copy, this jam nails the idea of “thunder clatter” with this smooth and fun track.
Machinedrum – Whatnot – Completely out of left field, I actually really dig what these guys are doing. Guaranteed to give you a headache.

Weekend of 11-16-12

This guy just gets served. Period. Last weekend before Thanksgiving – hope you’re all doing an extra workout and enjoying the windy cold temps. Dot dot dot.
Cosmic Kids – Never Going Back (Fleetwood Mac Remix) – I almost fell out of my chair when I heard this. A smooth and simple remix of one of my all time favorites. I can’t tell whether to get fired up or nostalgic.
Viceroy – While We’re In Love (Feat. Ghost Beach) – Yes, the SF dj dropped a new single this week and it’s with one of my other new favorite bands. I dare you to put this on your workout mix this weekend. Game changer.
Kimbra – Warrior – Kimbra powers in a brand new single, blending the La Roux styles with electronic shock waves. A sweet party mix everyone will agree on.
California Wives – Tokyo (Different Sleep Remix) – One of the hardest to describe genres. Like weird ambient dubstep? Seriously good shit.
Young Money – Pass That Dutch – I put this on the jamz like 2 years ago and just heard it this morning. This is one of my all time favorite rap songs. The lyrics are insane and it makes me want to buy a sick stereo system. It’s kind of like a cigarette for your attitude – you’ll feel cool while it lasts.

Weekend of 11-09-12

Pretty amazing to see how far we’ve come. Last night I enjoyed the fruits of Sony on a double decker Red Bull bus that had a DJ inside. That was pretty sweet.
Classixx – Stranger Love (RAC Mix) – Of course we all know Classixx from their epic Psychic City remix, but now we have another reason. This jam kills – perfect beach music. Do it.
Jay-Z – December 4th (Sourface Remix) – I started reading Jay-Z’s book last weekend, makes this one a lot more impactful. Turn this up.
The Weeknd – Valerie – The Weeknd is one of a kind. This track speaks to the candlelit nights and forgotten Steve Winwood lovers we once had.
Keane – Silenced By The Night – This came on as I was driving along the cliffs up the pacific coast with the windows down last weekend. Keane is one of my all time favorites – their music soars and has helped me decide that I really need a convertible sports car.
Bobby Fuller Four – I Fought The Law – A classic. It’s feel good. On my life mix. Amazing.

Weekend of 11-02-12

That time of year again – break out your ballot face and get voting. Lots of interesting options this year. I’m ready for a Roark/Reardon ticket. Anyone interested?
Sky Ferreira – Obsession – I’m a huge fan of Sky Ferreira and her ambient rock style. Everything I’ve heard from her makes me want to throw down. I’m interested in this.
Angus Stone – True Colors – Slow it down with this Angus jam, and gives props to the Angus who will be running the State of Maine pretty soon.
David Guetta – She Wolf – Another killer dance track from David Guetta. Put this on only when you are ready to drop the hammer in a HUGE way.
The 1975s – You – I found this one on some random blog and it’s awesome. Nice blend of the latest sounds, perfect for your autumn walk to the voting booths.
Felix Cartal – Tonight – I love this one. It’s got that La Roux thing going on, with a bit more edge.

Weekend of 10-26-12

Gotta love that this has over 10 million views. WTF. I hear things are getting real in the northeast with a big storm brewing. Glad I’m not there – would totally ruin my Felix Baumgartner costume. DOING IT.
Tegan And Sara – I’m Not Your Hero – Yes – this is awesome. Put it on full blast and let your hair down. Arcade Fire goes 1985. Huge fan of this jam!
Jay-Z Feat. Adele – THRT (The End) Urban Noize Remix – What happens when you put Jay-Z and Adele in the same room, then put a smooth remix against whatever they produce? Magic.
Hot Chip – Look At Where We Are Major Lazer Vs Junior Blender Remix – Major Lazer brings in some epic reggae vibes on this classic Hot Chip jam. A must listen.
Mt.Wolf – Life Sized Ghosts – If you’re into the Bon Iver stuff, especially during this time of year, check this out. Smooth and airy (not hairy).
Chris Malinchak – So Good To Me – A mix of the beach electro we all love and a solid dance jam. Great for your recovery needs.
