Weekend of 08-12-11

Oh man does this one get me. Too many to choose a favorite. Alan! Alan! Looking like some sweet weather this weekend. Do yourself a favor and blast this Rihanna song on your drive home tonight – it’s that good.
Rihanna – Cheers (Drink To That) – Seriously Rihanna, is it possible for you to make a bad song? An incredible Friday jam, seemingly taking a page out of Wiz Khalifa’s No Sleep book. “Life’s too short to spend it miserable.” Boom.
Poolside – Harvest Moon - Yacht’s Psychic City meets Neil Young. This is awesome, makes me want to live in LA….just like everything else about that town.
J. Cole – Bring Em In – Loving this beat, J Cole almost getting into Kanye West territory with something this hot.
George Michael – Faith (Aeroplane Remix) – Image this during the final montage in some epic movie? Windows down, baby.
Adele – Someone Like You - Self-proclaimed by the British diva that this may be the greatest song she’ll ever write. It’s pretty incredible, if I do say so myself.

Weekend of 09-03-10

A snapshot representing a momentary lapse of reason fused with blinding eurphoria. If you look close enough you can see the iPod on his wetsuit.

This was taken on a Friday.

Cee-Lo Green – F*ck You- Nothing like a super feel good jam about the maddest song lyrics ever. He puts the Gnarl in Gnarls Barkley!
Arcade Fire – We Used to Wait- Yes this album kills. Yes this song kills. Double, huge yes for this website. http://thewildernessdowntown.com/
Matt & Kim – Cameras - It seems like I can’t get through a blog without seeing this one featured. Real smooth.
Samantha Murphy – Ring of Fire – This independent artist is making it happen on the next Amazon Kindle commercial. Happy to support the little guy, took me forever to find a free download of this though. Wahh wahh.
Neil Young – On the Beach - This goes out to the guys on the beach behind the camera man asleep from the oxycontin they just took.

Weekend of 03-20-09

1. KC and the Sunshine Band – Do a Little Dance

This KC song came on my shuffle the other day and blew my mind. Obviously we’ve all heard this song – but I strongly recommend putting it back on your running/party mixes. Instant good times. Stop moving your leg.

2. Coldplay – Life in Technicolor II

A solid Coldplay jam for any occasion – signature transcendentalism with a hint of rock drumming to keep it on my driving mix. Shades on? Shades on.

3. Eric Clapton – Before You Accuse Me (unplugged)

Eric gets reeeeal loose on this acoustic track. A kickoff to his legendary unplugged album and a lyrics that ring true to anyone who loves to be deep in a Judgement Free Zone.

4. Fleetwood Mac – Never Going Back Again

The first of two Fleetwood tracks this week (yes!) that bring about a nostalgia that few bands do. I remember senior year sitting in my room at 2am on a Thursday with my window open and hearing a freshman girl yell “HOLY SHIT! Fuck, everyone stop!” All her friends (getting into a car) stopped. There was a silence…broken by a voice panged by someone so in passionately involved with 12 rum and cokes and a spot in their heart for acoustic love songs that softly stated with eyes closed, “I….fucking….love this song.” It was a special day.

5. Neil Young – Unknown Legend

This is my favorite Neil Young song. Think about what I just said.

6. Fleetwood Mac – Second Hand News

Second FM song brings us back to what it’s all about – getting totally burned and singing a wicked feel good song about it. I love it. America.
