I’ve never hated and loved fast food as much as I do right now. Big props to these guys for using an iPhone app to mix this – so awesome. Good inspiration to go for a long run this weekend.
• Goldfrapp – White The White Horse – So this might be the best driving/partying/wish I was in a movie song I’ve heard in a while. “Oh, I love this feeling, feels like forever. I love this feeling – feels like real leather.” Amen you sexy beast.
• The Chemical Brothers – The Boxer (DFA Version) – The Chemical Brothers have made a nice transition over to the softer, beat driven electronic in recent years. This is a great jam for wanting to get in the groove. Like if you are sitting around and thinking to yourself “I just need to get in the zone” – this is what’s up.
• Kisses – Funny Heartbeat – Kisses is one of my favorite bands ever. These guys seem to blend Malibu with the lightness of an exotic surfing town in Peru. All their jams make me happy.
• YACHT – Tripped and Fell In Love – Yacht, the geniuses who gave us Psychic City, deliver a second party smash hit. I have it on good authority that this song single handedly took a party from “hi, how are you, what do you do?” to “Jesus I can’t stop sweating because I’m dancing so hard” in a matter of 6 minutes. True story.
• Walk The Moon – Anna Sun – Good new track from Walk the Moon, sort of a feel good Southern California thing going on.
Oh man does this one get me. Too many to choose a favorite. Alan! Alan! Looking like some sweet weather this weekend. Do yourself a favor and blast this Rihanna song on your drive home tonight – it’s that good.
• Rihanna – Cheers (Drink To That) – Seriously Rihanna, is it possible for you to make a bad song? An incredible Friday jam, seemingly taking a page out of Wiz Khalifa’s No Sleep book. “Life’s too short to spend it miserable.” Boom.
• Poolside – Harvest Moon - Yacht’s Psychic City meets Neil Young. This is awesome, makes me want to live in LA….just like everything else about that town.
• J. Cole – Bring Em In – Loving this beat, J Cole almost getting into Kanye West territory with something this hot.
• Adele – Someone Like You - Self-proclaimed by the British diva that this may be the greatest song she’ll ever write. It’s pretty incredible, if I do say so myself.
I was given the heads up on this sick new website and it’s sweet. You get voted on based on your DJ skills. Just spent 20 minutes in the electro/house/dance/party room and, aside from being fired up, was impressed with what I heard. Turntable.fm
A friendly reminder that you’re young, it’s summer time, and THIS is exactly what you’ve been talking about for months and years prior. So, do something about it.
• Big Sean – 100 Keys ft. Rick Ross - Sweet hip hop jam featuring my man Rick Ross. Big Sean has been killing it on the scene lately. Is he the new 2011 Akon? Yeah right.
• A. Skilz – California Soul (Remix) – A driving electronic remix of Marlena Shaw’s classic soul ballad that will leave you wishing you were in a Nike commercial or grossly turned off by what has happened to music.
• CSS – Hits Me Like A Rock – Not unlike the fan favorite "Psychic City," CSS puts down a catchy pop song about the misfortunes of having bad reflexes.
• Jonathan Johansson – Blommorna (Niva Remix) – Killer upbeat lounge music, the kind that you makes you want to retire. The kind that paints images of freedom and expansive oceans. The kind that doesn’t even get you a high five, it just gets you high.
• Radical Face – Welcome Home - A distinctive, yet familiar sound. Imagine the above song, but in a hipster movie, and instead of freedom and epic shit, heartbreak and second hand clothing.
